렘브란트(1655), "엠마오로 가는길에서"

Now the same day two of them were going to a village called Emmanus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about the everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him. (Luke 24:13-16)

예수님을 알아보지 못한 사람들. 

하지만...

As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, ‘Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. (Luke 24:28-29)

그들에게는 열심(간절함)이 있었다. 가려는 예수를 붙잡고 우리와 함께 가자고 하였다.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:30-32)

예수님과 식사를 하려고 할 때, 그들의 눈이 떠져 그들은 예수님을 알아보게 되었다.

그들이 예수님께 같이 유하자라고 하지 않았다면, 그들은 그가 예수님인지 알아 볼 수 있었을까?
